Meet Lead Cook, Richie Duran
Richie was born and raised in beautiful Buena Vista! Like most young adults, when we he was finished with high school he was ready to explore other parts of the United States. He took off to California for the warm weather and beach lifestyle. He resided in Long Beach, CA for a few years while he worked for a GMC dealership. Richie’s California dreams were burning out so he made the leap across the country to New York. He lived in Manhattan and worked for a restaurant but still was not satisfied so like most Coloradans he made he was back West to Glenwood Springs and then eventually made his way back to mountain living in BV. We are sure glad that he found his way back home!
Why did you apply to work at Eddyline Restaurant?
I moved back to Buena Vista in 2009 when Eddyline was just opening their doors and saw a great opportunity. When just opening, Eddyline Restaurant was packed with people and I knew that I would have job security and be able to grow with the company. After my interview, two days later they hired me to work in the kitchen.
What do you like most about working at Eddyline?
I have been able to work my way up to Lead Cook and have been compensated appropriately for my skills and dedication to the restaurant. I also enjoy the fast paced atmosphere that keeps us busy in the kitchen year-round, even in the winter months.
How has your position in the kitchen evolved and what is your favorite item to prepare?
Since the opening of Eddyline, we have been able to perfect our menu items using local ingredients. My favorite menu item to prepare are our famous wood-fired pizzas, even though I feel that I am a master at every station. 😉
What is your favorite food item, Eddyline brew and mixed drink that we serve?
Brewery Burger, Eddyline Crank Yanker IPA and our house Margaritas are my favorite!
Since you grew up in BV, what are your favorite outdoor adventures?
Endless amounts of rock climbing, hiking and biking all over our area and Colorado. In the winter months, you can find me up at Monarch Mountain snowboarding.
What is an interesting fact about yourself?
Well, I would have to say that I am amazing at karaoke! My claim to fame was this one night up at The Rope AKA The Lariat, when they hosted karaoke. Help by The Beatles came on and I killed it. To my surprise I received a standing ovation. Now you can find me singing around the kitchen at the restaurant.
