Women in Agriculture Affair, A Four-Course Dinner to benefit 1% For Women
Women in Agriculture Affair supports 1% For Women, an organization started locally by Laurie Benson.
1% For Women works with and promotes businesses who commit 1% of their net profits to microcredit loans for women in agriculture around the world. Through their partnerships and collaborations they are uplifting women farmers on a global level.
1% For Women is also partnering with the Farmers Femme to create the Sweet Roots Festival!
This event will take place June 6th on the Soccer Fields in Buena Vista and will use music and celebration to raise awareness around the importance of celebrating women who work the land. Eddyline Restaurant is a proud supporter and sponsor of Sweet Roots Festival!
Employee of the Month!
Meet Darin Carl
“Darin is genuinely the nicest person you will ever meet. He never has anything negative to say about anyone. You wouldn’t know it but Darin has an engineering degree, but we think he is better suited as your bartender,” stated Eddyline Restaurant Owner, Brian England.
Darin moved to Buena Vista from Vail Colorado about 6 years ago with his wife Katie and growing family. Depending on who you ask, Darin was the first employee hired at Eddyline Restaurant. He had walked into Eddyline to grab a beer but they weren’t open yet. Brian and Ryan were still painting the walls getting ready for opening day.
We asked Darin the following questions about working at Eddyline and interesting facts about himself.
1. What do you like most about working at Eddyline Restaurant?
It’s different everyday and you never know what to expect. I work with great people who share similar interests and it’s nice to have the calmness of winter before CKS PaddleFest followed by the crazy summers where it’s packed almost every night.
2. What is your favorite food item, beer and cocktail served at Eddyline Restaurant?
Brewery Burger, Eddyline IPA and Moscow Mule
3. What is your favorite activity to do in Buena Vista?
I enjoy mountain biking the Colorado Trail . I usually ride by myself but I like to take my family on otherColorado adventures.
4. What are some activities that you like to share with your family?
Camping anywhere near water is great. We are also all learning to stand-up paddle board. We enjoy the hot springs at Mount Princeton Resort, Strawberry Park Hot Springs and the Sand Dunes Hot Springs are awesome. In the winter we enjoy taking our daughters Taiya and Riley snowboarding and skiing.
5. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
I am known to ride my bike year-round even through the snow and cold. My wife draws the line at 10 below but one morning I road my bike in at 18 below. It was pretty cold!
